5 Minutes With… Louisa Meredith

In our latest 5 Minutes With feature, we’re catching up with Director of Finance & Corporate Secretary Louisa Meredith about her role heading up the division and how she enjoys spending her free time outside the office.

Tell us a bit about your role with Accela?

My role covers overseeing the Finance & CoSec team, bringing new insights to the team and spearheading business development as we work to grow the vertical. I’m overseeing work with current clients, bringing in new business, and also handling projects with companies going through the sales process based on my previous experience in Corporate Finance.

Did you always know you wanted to be in finance?

When I was a teenager I wanted to be an astrophysicist, but as I got older I decided that finance seemed like a more stable option. You may still catch me looking up at the stars from time to time but my feet are firmly on the ground!

Which aspects of your role do you enjoy the most?

I really enjoy mentoring my team members and building relationships with my clients.

What do you think the future of finance will look like?

The industry has already made quite a few moves towards automation and more tech-driven processes, and I think that will only continue. I also see the possibility of more frequent filing deadlines, which are also being implemented in other countries.

If you could do another job for a day, what would it be?

A professional tennis player, on the day they play at Wimbledon!

What is one thing you couldn’t live without?

That may be obvious now, my tennis racket.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work?

Spending quality time with my twin daughters and my husband.

What’s the best book you’ve ever read?

Untamed by Glennon Doyle.

Where are you looking forward to traveling as that becomes an option again?

During Covid-19, quite a few friends left Singapore.  I’m looking forward to seeing them again the most, wherever in the world they are now.

Best career advice you’ve received?

Always back yourself.
