5 Minutes With… Ain Rani

As a Corporate Secretary Associate at Accela, Ain is responsible for looking after the administration work of companies. While many people in Singapore may not be familiar with the ins and outs of being a corporate secretary, the role includes ensuring compliance with the company's Constitution, keeping and maintaining the statutory registers of the company and corporate documents.

What’s the most inspiring part of your job?

I am very new to the Corporate Secretary role. I love that I get to learn new things and be able to challenge myself to excel in what I'm doing so that I can use my knowledge when handling the clients.

What would you say truly differentiates Accela from the many competitive choices that exist today?

Definitely the working environment. My colleagues are very positive and clients benefit from the great energy everyone transmits.

What is the biggest challenge facing leaders working in finance today?

One of the biggest challenges would be keeping in-line with the developments in technology. Instead of using the traditional spreadsheet, financial leaders are slowly turning to automation solutions including cloud-based services.

If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be? 

An event planner. 

Best career advice you’ve ever received? 

If you do not like what you are doing, change. You can either change your job or change yourself.

Imagine your perfect night - are you staying in or going out? 

Most nights now, I would appreciate a quiet night in, watching a drama/movie on Netflix/HBO Go or reading.

What’s something that’s always in your refrigerator? 

A bottle of Evian water. Must stay hydrated always!
